TOCO HILL

The Toco Hill is an ancient volcano, now asleep, located 60 kilometers away from San Pedro de Atacama, in the region of Antofagasta, northern Chile.

Its maximum height is 5616 meters above sea level.

Toco comes from the indigenous language Kunza (Atacama or Lickanantay dialect). Toco, or Tocko means “Nook”.

Difficulty: Low/medium
Time to the top: 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the walking rithm.
Vertical ascended distance: 500 meters aprox.
Necessary gear: Warm clothe (gloves, hat, polar jacket, windbreaker, etc), sunglasses, sun protection, trekking boot y trekking canes.
Tips: Take a light breakfast in the morning. Energy food should be taken for the walk.

Approximately expedition time: From 8AM (departure from San Pedro de Atacama) until 1-2PM (arrival to San Pedro de Atacama)

– Guided trekking (english/spanish).
– Gear and clothe the traveler may not have.
