The Quimal hill (Kimal) is part of the Domeyko mountains, 70 kilometers (approx.) away from San Pedro de Atacama, in the region of Antofagasta, northern Chile.
Its maximum height is 4278 meters above sea level.
Quimal is a sacred hill for the Lickanantay culture (Atacama). Quimal is surrounded by leyends and stories that relates her (Princess Quimal) on a relationship with Licancabur Volcano (Prince Licancabur and Princess Quimal)
Time to the top: 2 to 3 hours depending on the walking rithm.
Vertical ascended distance: 600 meters aprox.
Necessary gear: Warm clothe (gloves, hat, polar jacket, windbreaker, etc), sunglasses, sun protection, trekking boot y trekking canes.
Tips: Take a light breakfast in the morning. Energy food should be taken for the walk.
Approximately expedition time: From 7.30AM (departure from San Pedro de Atacama) until around 4PM (arrival to San Pedro de Atacama)
– Private transportation (4×4 vehicle).
– Guided trekking (english/spanish).
– Gear and clothe the traveler may not have.
